The Graduate Writing Series closes for 2007-08 with a presentation on Friday, May 9 on  Writing in the Humanities.  Sally Robinson,  an Associate Professor of English and Director of Graduate Studies in English, will explain strategies for getting published in humanities journals. She will explore the following topics:  What does "publishable" mean? What are the differences between seminar papers, conference papers, dissertation chapters and articles? How can students choose the right journal for their work? Communicate with editors? Read and respond to readers’ reports?

Dr. Robinson’s  primary areas of interest are gender studies and contemporary American cultural studies.  Her most recent work has been on representations of masculinity in U.S. culture since the 1960s.  She has three times taught the English graduate course on Publication and Professionalization.

Join the University Writing Center and Dr. Robinson at noon in Evans Library, Room 208. RSPV at http://writingcenter.tamu.edu. Coffee and cookies will be provided.
